i hate corporations
FUCK YOU VERIZON

when i ordered my new phone, they created a new account. what the fuck? i got a late bill for $172.86 today. i'd been getting bills for the new account, apparently, but i thought it was for my old account. when called verizon to activate my phone, i got it confirmed that this phone was on my old number and i'd get billed to my old number and everthing. why did i get a bill for an account i didn't know about? "you got a confirmation letter, sir." i did, and i thought it was null and void because of what the guy said when i set up my phone.

furthermore, when i went to order my new phone online, it told me i was eligible for such and such offers, like $100 off a new phone and some other crap. cool. i was informed today no, i was not eligible. so WHY DID IT TELL ME I WAS! i told them they should take my suggestion, which was to back bill me for the phone ($120) which i'd have no problem with if they waived all the fees on my new account plus waived the early termination fee since it was their errors that A) created a new account and B) told me i could get a phone for $100 off.

so today's verizon whore kept me on the phone for all of 45 minutes, most of them on hold. told me i'd owe the old balance on the old account PLUS a $175 early termination fee. FUCK YOU VERIZON. i told her i want to speak to her manager. she came back with a deal to waive the early termination fee if i paid the $172.86 for all those bills and late fees i DIDN'T KNOW I HAD.

FUCK YOU VERIZON

addendum: insult to injury.
i overdrew my checking account by $0.26. they charged me a $25 overdraft fee.

LOL examine my anger. already did. it needed to be let out and the remainder was filed away under evidence to be more thorough in dealings when i'm one measly customer to a multibillion dollar corporation.

i can pay for it alright, though i'm doing so begrudgingly.

also, i had an idea about your restless leg syndrome..like you said, it helps you concentrate? it probably forces you to slow your mind down.

it could indeed... ADD type people need to occupy the rote part of their brain while using the active thought part. well, i do anyway. so that's my suspicion, though we're probably both right.

i just did some looking up on it, and nothing i read attributed it to ADD-like symptoms. apparently people with it get phantom sensations in their legs, like tingling and itching, and have to move their legs to get it to stop. and i'm sure that's a problem with schizophrenics... maybe i could pass it off as a tic if i ever get drafted into the army. get myself a job slinging mashed potatos.

apparently there's RLS support groups out there, too. i am not alone!

that's so interesting. i've read somewhere that it's attributed to add. my whole life i've been doing funny repetative things while trying to concentrate, especially with my hands. i think it also manifests into a psychological need to control things because everything is so uncontrollable, particularly attention span. THIS IS WHY I LOVE WRITING because it's like the ultimate brainscratchpad. it's also why painting is so great, because all of a sudden all the mess of sensation and form and color becomes beautiful. it's sort of ecstatic. hey, i went swimming yesterday and i'm so sore it feels like i have wings growing out of my back! it's so cool.

Before I left, they kept calling me to ask me if I wanted to renew my contract. I said no, I wouldn't, I was leaving the country and wouldn't need this account or phone anymore. They said OK. What they didn't say was that terminating the contract (or allowing it to expire) was not the same as terminating the account. So my parents got a bill, addressed to me, a month after I left. Somehow my mom managed, pretending to be me, to convince them that they had, in fact, on two separate occasions, been told that I no longer wanted my account after October 1.

Oh, the other option is to start compulsively printing out everything you ever see on the Internet so that you can present them with the evidence. You should also write down the names of everyone you speak with, and keep either detailed logs or audio tapes of all your conversations. You should also start looking for financing for a bigger house.

hahaha goddamn right. this 1500 square foot ranch isn't near big enough for me! why, i only have one football field in my basement. I DEMAND MORE!

allowing the contract to expire would have meant paying a monthly fee on a line i would never have a phone for and would therefore never use. unless there's a way around that i didn't know about...

oh well. just do a good translation of "the wine dark sea." i want to learn about sicily in your words.

just scream at them until they drop both, and make sure they know it's their fault in both situations. and don't pay!

this is how i got a free new phone and my families 300 dollar bill dropped by sprint last month. it just took a while.

whoa that is a whole lot of BS. I'm sorry you had to go through that. My sister had a phone with Verizon before but it was one of those pre-paid types. She was charged $1 everyday regardless of whether she used it or not and it was deducted out of the $40 she pays monthly. One minute costs 25 cents but doesn't cost anything on nights and weekends (night minutes start 9PM). Then I got my cell phone (from T-Mobile cuz my sweet ass camera phone with an infrared port and FM radio was originally $150 but the guy gave it to me for $20, fuck yeah). My sister quit her deal with Verizon to get the same one I did and they automatically deducted $100 even though she didn't overuse her minutes or have a contract in the first place.
Anyway once you find a phone (and company) you're happy with, e-mail me your number and I can give you mine as well. (email is nocturnal.bliss@gmail.com) I have 1500 minutes to burn XD Aside from your beef with Verizon, I hope all is well.
P.S. On Friday February 24th my bf Josh and I will be seeing Dark Tranquillity (they're playing with Opeth and the Devin Townsend band) at Hartford's Webster Theatre so if you guys are interested we can meet up somewhere prior to the show :)
